Whoop - First few spuds ready for tea - thanks!
« on: June 07, 2008, 20:21 »
I'm so proud of myself and the missus is well chuffed too - now she can see (and taste) why I spend so much time pottering around in the garden! :)

Here a photo of the first potatoes I've dug up, after a few minutes careful grub around just 3 of my plants

( Old Guard )

I reckon I've got a nice crop on my hands, given the fact I've dug these up in just a few mins.

I've done due diligence today, spending a good two hours propping up my plants  on bamboo canes and earthing them up.
With a bit of luck, at least half the spuds we eat between now and autumn will be home grown!

A big thankyou to the folks on this forum, the advise has been invaluable.

Well done, if you start thinning them out, so you can earth up the rest, you shall have more. :tongue2:

oooh, tatties are roasting with olive oil, sea salt, fresh ground pepper, alongside some onions and red peppers.

On top, there's two pork chops smothered in garlic and rosemary and olive oil - rosemary is fresh cut from the garden.

I've got a fresh salad made - alas, not from my garden - all in good time! :)

Me 'n the missus will be eating with a nice glass of chablis or two.
It's a late meal, as Dr. Who came before cooking tonight :D
